About place and the author

Arriving to the Pelješac peninsula always begins with awe and experiencing of one of the most spectacular ways nature welcomes visitors to this region of Europe. Toward the end of the trip, as the winding road climbs the mountainside, a citrus orchard stretches out to the right, table-flat, carved by a river, and ruled by mandarin trees. I pass roadside stalls offering everything this land yields and everything the local people can craft from such abundance. One more left turn, and the road begins its slow descent toward Malo More, while in the distance, the white pylons of the magnificent Pelješac Bridge stand out against the deep blue of the water. Driving further along the curve to the right, you cross the sea via this stunning road suspended in the air, finally reaching a place that is raw and half-wild, where the malachite-turquoise crystal of the Adriatic washes over rocky cliffs and steep slopes, peeks into quiet, intimate coves, and carries a salty breeze up toward the vineyards draped across the hills.

For an artist, Pelješac is a perfect place. Its authenticity, crystalline light, and seemingly endless landscapes have a soothing effect on the mind, opening the soul to new perspectives. It is here, in the rhythm of polako—without haste or a watch—that I found the peace that became the foundation of my work. This place inspires; it makes the mind calmer, looking further and wider. It is a raw and simple land, whose good vibrations will be felt by those who know how to draw from things that are simple and essential. There is no need for a watch here. Here, you can truly let go. I have met wonderful people here, both the locals and "kindred spirits" from Poland. How many gatherings have we shared at the table? How many visits to the konobas? How many times did we meet there, not even knowing we had arrived on the peninsula at the exact same time?

My name is Przemek Maliszewski. I am a photographer for whom Pelješac has become like a second home and my greatest muse. My photography is not just a record of beautiful views; it is, above all, a tribute to this place, its people, and the life scattered among wild bays, harsh rocks, Mediterranean macchia, and at the feet and on the slopes of the mountains. Through my photography, I wish to express respect for the daily, hard manual labor that produces the finest wines and seafood, and my adoration for a land that allows one to "reset" life and rebuild oneself in many aspects. This place directs and inspires my work; it opens the mind, unlocks potential, shifts perspective, and brings happiness.

I believe that the role of a photographer goes beyond simply pressing the shutter button. Through my work, I promote the unique beauty of the peninsula, support the local community, and encourage respect for this region of Croatia—a fragment of our beautiful continent. I want to show the world a place where man and nature still live in a deep, untouched symbiosis.

I invite you into my world—a land of sun, wine, pristine landscapes, exquisite cuisine, song, tradition, epic sunrises and sunsets, friends, shared tables, shared work, and my infinite inspiration.

I invite you, through my lens, to Pelješac.
